How To Lose Weight Exercising?

Exercise is important for losing weight. We all are aware of this fact. Because, stressing on diet alone usually brings poor results. Lack of exercise deprives the body of many physiological benefits. Such benefits include a boosted metabolism, better fitness and raised energy levels. Regular exercise helps reduce fat deposits in the body and also assists to regulate your appetite. This makes it easier to control energy intake.

Once you have realized the effectiveness of exercising, the next question that comes to your mind is which exercise program will best suite you and help you lose weight.
Naturally, all exercises don’t have the same effect on your body. The exercise program is to be selected keeping in mind what suits the individual body type and what each individual wants from the workout program. It can be a lot of things, such as burning fat, losing weight or just gaining fitness.

Anaerobic exercises usually tend to burn carbohydrates rather than fat. The reason is they naturally require more effort. The anaerobic exercises involve greater intensity. This often contributes to some amount of gains in the muscle weight. This is more noticed during the initial period of beginning a new workout routine. A workout of this type can also encourage muscles to store more glycogen. Now, each time glycogen is stored it prompts the body to absorb three times more water. This results in a slight increase in weight. It has been observed that intense anaerobic exercise generally reduces glycogen stores in the muscle rapidly. Because of this, our body tends to store more between workouts, making sure that we have more energy available for the next workout session. Also, when muscles start to store more carbohydrates, it gives the body cells an opportunity to use its preferred fuel instead of using fat stores.

Muscle gain can be a goal in itself. Though, it will usually benefit healthy people having a higher metabolism. But those more interested in losing weight, including the ones who haven’t exercised for some time, should rather perform aerobic type exercises for decent results.

Anaerobic exercises include:

  • Football

  • Sprinting

  • Weight Training

  • Tennis

Aerobic exercises are those that help maintain a steady heart rate at 50-70 per cent of the heart’s maximum rate. The person doing the exercise should feel easy while doing it. This is necessary for burning a higher percentage of fat. At a slow pace it is easier for a human body to burn fat. However, the flipside of working out at low levels of exertion is that you burn less calories this way, which means it will take longer for you to reach your goal of weight loss. Yet, for beginners or people with excessive weight, it is advisable to start at a slow pace to allow the body to get attuned with the movements.

Walking is perhaps the best exercise for a beginner. Even grossly overweight persons can manage to walk with relative ease. So it can be a good exercise to start with. Doctor’s approval is always to be taken before starting any fitness program.
