When you have to choose workout routines, two basic considerations should always be in your mind:

Both these considerations are geared towards specific objectives. This is because the purpose for engaging in a workout program may vary from person to person, though at a basic level, greater flexibility, endurance and strength are the end results everyone aspires for.

People may go for a workout program for various reasons. For some, the purpose can be anti-aging, for others it can be increasing flexibility, improving cardiovascular functions, increasing strength or building muscles. According to your objective you should select a fitness program that fully addresses your needs.

For example, depending upon your needs you may go for 30 minutes workout session three times a week. Or it can be 45 minutes session thrice a week. So, workout sessions may vary from person to person. The outcomes are likewise different. So, you should plan the frequency of your workout keeping in mind your specific needs and requirements.

3. Tips to select the appropriate fitness program option

  • If you just want to maintain a healthy heart and have a well-toned body, the right fitness program for you will concentrate more on aerobic exercises plus a diet program that will help you maintain your heart's health.

  • However, if you only want a healthy body and a well-toned one, you can consider combining aerobic and anaerobic training exercises that concentrate more on cardiovascular exercises and a little on weight training.

  • If you want to have stronger muscles, you have to consider increasing anaerobic exercises, i.e. weight training, in your fitness program. In order for your muscles to exude endurance and strength, focus more on muscular fitness. You can better enhance your muscular fitness if you do some strength training; this will result to an increase in mass of your lean muscles.   • You need to consider that your fitness program will depend on the current state your body is in. If you are too fat or overweight, you will first enter a weight loss fitness program with prevailing aerobic exercises.

  • After you finish your weight loss fitness program and have reached the required weight, you will now enter a different and more advanced fitness program that will concentrate on strength and endurance training, i.e. increasing amount of anaerobic exercises in your fitness program.

  • However, if you are too thin, you will enter a weight gain fitness program.

Training for fitness focuses primarily on the different groups of muscles of every human being; this results to muscular fitness, aerobic fitness, and increases stability and flexibility. There are other factors to consider before deciding to do a physical activity, like your physical capability. Do check with your doctor before performing any activity that requires physical strength.
