Chest exercises can be useful only if you understand how to do the workouts properly. Standing dumbbell extension is one of chest exercises, here you will find explanation and picture of this workout

Standing Dumbbell Extension

This workout is aimed to make a load on chest muscles. The performance technique is as follows:

  • In starting position lean a bit forward

  • Hold the dumbbells in your hands at your sides (can touch your sides)

  • Slowly raise the dumbbells up to around shoulder height

  • Keep your arms slightly bended at elbows

  • When the dumbbells move up, turn your hands with thumbs down as if you pour out water from a jar)

  • Do not help yourself with lower back

  • The exercise emphasizes the load on the central part of deltoid muscles. You can also perform it with one hand (holding another on support) or using low pulley. Both these variants allow using high amplitude than performing usual raises of dumbbells
