1. The first is to cut down on the chit-chat. You may have seen a great movie the night before and that you might want to tell your gym buddies all about it or you may have observed that attractive instructor have been giving you little looks and you want to talk to him or her. However, you need to remember the reason why you are in the gym.

It doesn't hurt to socialize a bit but if you can't afford to spend a lot of time in the gym to build bigger muscle, then you might want to cut down on the chit-chat and really focus on your workout. You'll be surprised on how much time you will cut down in the gym. Of course your gym buddies may want to engage a conversation with you so the best way to shut them up without being rude is by wearing a pair of headphones. This will make them think twice to strike up a conversation with you.

2. The next tip is to plan your workout routine. A lot of people don't do this and end up spending a lot of time thinking and deciding what part of their body they should workout for today as well as what kind of exercises they should do. This is time waster. Plan it and you will exactly know what body you will work out for the day and what kind of exercises you should do.

3. You shouldn't mistake bodybuilding with strength training. If you are aiming to build bigger muscle, then you should try cutting down on rest time in between sets. You may have seen people getting a five minute rest after each set, but they may be strength training and it is required for them to do so in order for them to lift much more efficiently. In bodybuilding, you don't need this much rest. In fact, you just need to rest about 15 to 30 seconds between sets.

4. The gym today is always packed with people dreaming to have a great looking body. So, avoid working out at peak hours. Working out at peak hours is a sure fire way to waste time in waiting for your turn for the dumbbells, dumbbells and machines.
